Barack Obama, Republican
My colleague John T. Simpson wrote a great piece today on what media coverage would look like if BO were a Republican. From the article:
Let’s start with MSNBC’s ‘Countdown’ with Keith Olbermann, on Republican President Obama’s electoral landslide victory in November, and his 96% sweeping of the black vote.
KO: “It would seem the sinister and morally bankrupt Republican ploy of taking the White House with a totally inexperienced and faux minority candidate has been the most resounding political success for the GOP since the Reichstag Fire. Could African-Americans not act more self-destructively than in their rush to the polls to elect this Republican wolf in Martin Luther King clothing?

The New York Times is writing about the God of Spaghetti?
Posted by Joe Reciniello in Politics on April 28, 2009
In yesterday’s New York Times, with all the pressing topics to report on, the paper decided to write an article about the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster! Yes, you heard it right, the New York Times is writing about the God of Spaghetti! Now I’m beginning to understand why the paper is in such financial difficulty.
All joking aside, atheists have a right to “not believe” just as much as Christians, Jews, and Muslims have a right to “believe” in this country. However, unlike the European Union, which is a secular democracy, the United States of America is a Republic founded in Judeo-Christian beliefs. To prove my point just look at each states Constitution. Every preamble contains the word God in the first sentence. In addition, when Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th president of the United States of America, Mr.Obama placed his right hand on the Bible. In fact, it was the same Bible Abraham Lincoln placed his hand on when he was sworn in as the 16th president in 1861.

Fighting for Meg
I published an article on former EBay Cheiftain Meg Whitman this weekend over at Big Hollywood.
Read the article AND the comments. Many call Meg a RINO, which I strongly disagree with. In my opinion Meg Whitman is the only Republican (so far) that can win next November.
Joe Biden is confused, Pro-Life is Pro-Women!
Posted by Joe Reciniello in Politics on April 26, 2009
Joe Biden is a baptized Catholic who is Pro-Choice. Sounds like a paradox, well it is! During his recent talk at Georgetown University he stated, “You know there is no excuse for violence against a woman or child. There is no excuse.” Well guess what Joe, abortion is not only violence committed against a child but also women!
Some reported post-abortion symptoms:
- Depression
- Guilt
- Intense grief / sadness
- Anger / rage
- Emotional numbness
- Eating disorders
Mrs. California and Me

Let me weigh in on the Mrs. California debate, from yesterday’s Catholic Online.
Free Speech for Me but not for Thee? Miss California defends true marriage
“As the verbal assault against Carrie Prejean has continued, her integrity and character have continued to shine. Miss California is a Christian. She is a student at San Diego Christian College, an evangelical Protestant school. The College is very proud of her, covering her appearance and 1st runner up victory on their website. They should be proud. She answered with the kind of integrity and honestly which speaks of what Pope Benedict XVI has called a “moral coherence”. She was unafraid of defending true marriage in the face of an obviously loaded question from a self avowed homosexual activist with an agenda beyond the beauty contest, knowing that it may cost her a victory.
Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr. told NBC’s “Today,” that Miss USA contestants need to be “politically savvy.” Questioned about the Christian faith of Carrie Prejean he showed how little tolerance he has for people with differing worldviews saying he did not want her “talking about Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, because that’s offensive.”
