Arianna Huffington ran a piece today on The Huffington Post entitled “Arianna: Journalists Shouldn’t Be ‘Merely Passive Observers’“.

Arianna Huffington calls for more agenda journalism.
We at Yes, But, However! couldn’t disagree more. The short piece, written by Ms. Huffington, is about The Huffington Post’s launch of its “Impact” section. “Impact”, according to Ms. Huffington, is all about “giving back.”
Oddly enough, the launch of “Impact” coincides with the beginning of “Proselytize Week” coordinated with network TV and the White House. Creepy. (Watch a preview of what to expect this week in a clip of Julia Louis-Dreyfuss completely selling out her integrity to pitch for ObamaCare. Skip ahead to 2:38 for the action. Quite sad indeed.)
While I applaud the readers of The Huffington Post “giving back” and raising money for the blind, among other things, Ms. Huffington’s first choice of charity, Monique Zimmerman-Stein, couldn’t be more political in nature. Ms. Stein’s act of courage and sacrifice is Ms. Huffington’s proof that we need government run health care. The thing about agenda journalism is, you begin to get in the business of picking winners and losers. That isn’t the job of a true journalist. Reporting the truth is.
As with hardcore FOX News opinion show fans, devotees of Ms. Huffington’s website only get half the story. Make no mistake about it, Sean Hannity and Arianna Huffington are two sides of the same coin. At least Mr. Hannity is completely up front about it.
Ms. Huffington wraps up the piece with the following:
We’ll continue to report — but we’ll also help mobilize people and provide the tools to have an Impact on those we write about.
Not your job Ms. Huffington. Stick with the story.
Note: Opinion pieces such as this are always filed under the “Quick Hit” or “Opinion” category of Yes, But, However!
