PHILADELPHIA (YBH) – Norman Leboon, a 33 year old Philadelphia man who posted a Youtube video threatening death to House Minority Whip Eric Cantor and his family, has been arrested under two Federal counts.
U.S. Attorney Michael L. Levy said in a prepared statement:
The Department of Justice takes threats against government officials seriously, especially threats to kill or injure others. Whether the reason for the threat is personal or political, threats are not protected by the First Amendment and are crimes.
There are unconfirmed reports that a bullet fired at Representative Cantor’s office has been tied to a gun owned by Leboon. If convicted on both counts, Leboon faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.
One Norman Leboon is on record as a donor to the Obama Presidential campaign. The DNC has stated that if indeed he is the same donor as noted in their records, they will donate the amount he gave the party to charity.
