Hugo Chavez on Obama today:

“With Obama we can talk, we are almost from the same generation, one can’t deny that Obama is different (from Bush). He’s intelligent, he has good intentions and we have to help him.”

Obama backs Chavez on Honduras.  Chavez backs Obama on the “Employee Free Choice Act” and an eventual single payer health care system in the United States.

Where do they actually disagree?

It is very odd that Hugo Chavez is going through a media makeover of historic proportions at this time.  Oliver Stone, after all of his conspiracy fears, got suckered in by a dictator from South America.  Hugo is now basically President for life, the classic “El Presidente”, yet Stone and the media treat Hugo with kid gloves.  Odd.

Obama is a lot like Chavez and perhaps the media’s move to soften Hugo’s image is choreographed to make Obama’s moves to “fundamentally change the United States” easier to swallow.

It is hard to fathom any other reason for Hugo’s new found acceptability.
