COPENHAGEN (YBH.ME) – The BBC reports that Chicago lost in the first round of voting at the IOC.
President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama flew to Denmark to try and woo judges just before the final round of voting today. American opinion has been divided as to whether the trip was a valid use of the President’s time and good will.
Tokyo has also been eliminated from consideration. The remaining candidates are Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and Madrid, Spain.
Rio is the odds-on favorite to win the 2016 bid for the Summer Olympics, as no South American city has ever hosted the Olympics. Pundits agree that that fact alone may push Rio over the winners line.
UPDATE: Rio wins first South American Olympic bid.
