KEARNY, NJ (YBH.ME) – Republicans won two big races today capturing the Governor’s Mansion in both Virginia and New Jersey.  Chris Christie fought off a late surge from independent Chris Daggett to win a slim plurality in the Garden State.   Republican Bob McDonnell easily beat Democrat Creigh Deeds in Virginia.

Chris Christie wins in New Jersey.

Chris Christie wins in New Jersey.

Conservatives will seize on the the results as a repudiation of the Obama administration and Democrats will balme the economy.  How ever you look at it, the Democrats are going to have a tough time maintaining a large majority in Congress next year.

Results may not be available in full until tomorrow morning for New York’s 23rd Congressional District.  Conservative Doug Hoffman is fighting Democrat Bill Owens to replace Army Secretary John McHugh.  Bill Owens is ahead at the time of this posting by 4,000 votes.  YBH’s own Bruce Carlisle called this yesterday for Bill Owens, read his analysis here.

UPDATE: YBH is now calling this election for Bill Owens.  Major networks to give check mark shortly.
