LOS ANGELES (YBH.ME) – The conservative group Focus on the Family has launched a retail Christmas rating website named StandUpForChristmas.com. Respondents on the consumer-driven site, which uses a tripadvisor.com style format, are asked to rate retailers in one of three categories: Christmas Friendly, Christmas Negligent and Christmas Offensive. Respondents also leave comments about each retailer.

The GAP strikes out with Christians.
The most “offensive” retailer by far is the GAP with 84% of respondents calling the khaki-pitching retailer anti-Christmas. Most people on the website were turned off by the GAP’s 2009 holiday ad campaign. The ads celebrate “Happy Dowhateveryouwannukah,” and in some ads models shout “Go Christmas! Go Hannukah! Go Kwanzaa! Go Solstice!” Among the responses about the GAP were:
I am absolutely sickened by the new Gap commercial comparing Christmas to Solstice and “do what you like”. I will NOT shop at the Gap, Old Navy, or their sister stores any more nor will my teenagers. …
And
I don’t know if the ad dept. approved that horrible dancing TV commercial; they would have been better off without any advertising….
Following the GAP in the “offensive” category are: Best Buy, American Eagle Outfitters and Banana Republic. The most negligent retailers, or those most likely to make a cursory attempt to celebrate Christmas or ignore the holiday altogether, are Toys ‘R’ Us, Eddie Bauer, Barnes & Noble, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Macy’s. Each logged a 40-50% Christmas Negligent rating so far.
Christmas Friendly retailers include Lands’ End, Kmart, Sears, and Dillard’s with Bass Pro Shops topping the list with a 97% Christmas Friendly rating.
Users can log in, rate, or suggest retailers throughout the holiday season at StandUpForChristmas.com
