LOS ANGELES (YBH) – In another round of Western media self-censorship, the cable network Comedy Central has bowed before the altar of Islam and bleeped out the words “Prophet Muhammad” from an episode of the long-running cartoon series “South Park”.  The show’s creators received death threats from Muslims in the U.S. after it was revealed that the show would dare show the image of the Prophet Muhammad.   The threat was made on a U.S. based pro-Islam website (the site has now been taken down).

"South Park" takes on Islam, network immediately caves to threats.

The threat stated that “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone could meet the same fate as filmmaker Theo Van Gogh.  Van Gogh was stabbed in the chest by a Muslim when he dared make a film critical of the way Islam treats women.

Adherents of Islam, whom ironically bill their faith as “the religion of peace,” are currently responsible for most religious violence in the world today.  It should also be noted that with over 1 billion adherents, the percentage of Muslims who practice or call for violence is decidedly low.  However, if the number of actual Jihadists were to reach 1% of Muslims, the world would be facing over 10 million terrorists.

Threats like the one made against Comedy Central, anonymously on a website, are so effective because outlets like Comedy Central usually immediately self-censor when faced with a threat from Muslims.

In 2005, the cartoons printed below in a Danish newspaper led to calls for violence from Muslims:

Most news outlets in the United States, including Fox News, refused to show the cartoons out of fear of retribution from Muslims.

It should be noted that the New York Times posted a piece on its website downplaying the threat, saying that it was merely a “prediction” by the Muslim group.  The New York Times conveniently left out the fact that the original blog post on the Muslim website also listed the address and telephone numbers of Comedy Central’s New York offices.
