SOME INITIAL THOUGHTS ON SCOTT BROWN’S WIN

Tonight Barack Obama met the limits of his extraordinary personal story and awesome campaign machine.  Scott Brown has defeated Martha Coakley in Massachusetts!

Americans like divided government.  That, more than anything else, is clear tonight.  The health care bill is on life support, and Mr. Obama’s agenda is in tatters.

I think that is a good thing for America, and oddly, for the Presidency of Barack Obama.  Mr. Obama will now have to find a way to win over Republicans and govern on his own without the bludgeon of a Senate super-majority.  The arrogance of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid is now in check.  Also a good thing.  Politicians of both parties have an amazing skill for over- playing their hand.  Republicans no doubt will face that danger going forward.  I hope they don’t do what they have in the past.

The President needs now to take a play from Bill Clinton’s book.  “The era of big government” is not over, but Mr. Obama’s vision of remaking America is dead.

If Obama is actually humble after this terrible loss, things will go well, or at least better, for the Democrats in November.  If the President comes out swinging tomorrow morning he and his party are doomed.  For the sake of the nation, I vote for humble.  Your move Mr. President.

President Obama has inherited a tremendous task. He was left with fincial crisis, two wars and a country being cripled by the costof health care. We finally have a president that willing to do what's good for our country. We the people are tired of the bickering and the fact that the republicans are doing everything possible to obstruct what's needed for our country. Why can't our elected officials do what is right for our country and work together for the good of all. Hear us and pass a health care bill now. President Obama, thank you for all your trying to do!!!!

This win was a win for a representative Republic, and a kick in the teeth for the marching socialism Obama and team have thrust upon us. The idea that Republicans should go along with health care so we can stop the bickering is laughable if not just naive. The Republicans are hanging on by a thread trying to prevent a wholesale elimination of what made this country succeed for the past couple centuries. What makes liberals think they're so smart that they can make socialism any more successful than any other dictator in history?
