I would have never believed the current story line being played out on Toyota if you had told me about it two years ago. Toyota makes the most cars of choice for the left, the coveted Prius Hybrid sedan.
Here is the story thus far. Liberal Democrat gets in power, “seizes” GM and Chrysler, gives the two companies (more or less) to Union goons to own and run. Next, the U.S. government and an out-of-control press cause a panic over a large auto-industry recall attempting to use the recall to destroy a foreign competitor.

What happens next is anyone’s guess.
Tonight, Politico is reporting that internal Toyota documents show that the behemoth car company thinks the Democrats and Obama administration are “activist” and “not industry friendly.” Lefties all over the blogosphere are adding Toyota to the list of evil up there with banks and health insurance companies. For instance, The Huffington Post is running a story about Toyota saving $100 million by limiting the scope of a recall in 2007. The piece is written as if Toyota’s sole purpose is to screw over the American public.
The Pontiac Vibe is also being recalled for model years 2009 and 2010 over acceleration issues. Interesting how the left isn’t screaming from the mountain tops and calling for blood in that case.
According to Safety Research and Strategies 18 people have been killed because of stuck accelerators on Toyotas since 1999. That works out to 1.6 people per year. Interesting times, folks.
