LOS ANGELES (YBH.ME) – Below is the latest YouTube video featuring what conspiracy buffs are calling Obama worship.
An edited YouTube video surfaced this morning claiming that a religious group, Gamaliel International, were caught on tape chanting to Obama. The video has been removed from YouTube by the user. It is unclear if the audio of the video distributed this morning was doctored. Here is the unedited original video from Gamaliel.org:
The edited video featured text on screen that read “Deliver us Obama” and “Hear Our Cry Obama” while the crowd chants. Without the prompting text, it is clear that the crowd is saying “Deliver us Oh God” and “Hear Our Cry Oh God.”
The Gamaliel Foundation describes itself as a “community of people living out our faith and values to collectively transform our society and bring about justice locally, nationally and globally.” Gamaliel doesn’t seem to represent one particular sect or religion, however, almost all of its directors and past Presidents are Christians. According to the Gamaliel website President Obama was a director of an affiliate of the group in 1982.
The group receives some funding from CCHD (Catholic Campaign For Human Development ), the radical anti-poverty/social justice arm of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. CCHD cut off all funding to ACORN and ACORN affiliated projects as of June 2008, due to concerns over the embezzlement of funds at the group. CCHD still funds the Gamaliel Foundation.
The organization’s name references a biblical figure named Gamaliel who was purported to be a noted doctor of law during biblical times. The name Gamaliel derives from the Greek form of the Hebrew name meaning “reward of God”.
The video was shot in December of 2008 shortly after Barack Obama was elected President.
