A commenter on the Huffington Post sums up how the Democrats have played the Republicans (again!) over heath care.

Point, set, match, Barack Obama!
The “teabag” movement was gaining steam when the GOP brass called off the dogs due to the media focusing on how “outside the mainstream” the teabaggers were. Little did the GOP appreciate how close the Tea Party movement was to stopping socialized medicine dead in its tracks.
Today, I came across the following comment on the Huffington Post. I think it sums up why the GOP leadership, not individual politicians like Chris Christie, has been out-maneuvered since 2006. The writer rambles a bit and loves the “ALL CAPS,” but the points he makes pretty much hit the nail on the head:
ALL the “drama”, the bogus articles about “infighting” & the “Presidents reluctance to support the Public Option” (all to eagerly parroted on this site [The Huffington Post])… the nonsense about “triggers” was simply political brinkmanship by MASTERS.
And,
The HOUSE is now pushing (& will GET) an ACCELERATED schedule so as to make provisions like the elimination of “PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS” & the health insurance industry’s ANTI-TRUST EXEMPTIONS as soon as early NEXT YEAR (the LATTER of which will ostensibly castrate their power forever).
Coupled with the “Opt-OUT” clause, States who decide to choose against the Public Option can ALSO choose against PRIVATE INSURERS as well & set up a STATE-WIDE “Single Payer” system.
Our FOOT is in the DOOR now.. & there is NO turning back!.
I like the “FOOT is in the DOOR now” comment. Perhaps that has always been the goal? Duh!
My beef with socialized health care, and let’s call it what it is, is that it will cost so much more than any bill Congress passes this year or next. The deficit squeezes the middle class most and some day soon more Americans will work for the government than do not. How on earth will free speech and enterprise survive that? It won’t.
The uber-rich, government workers, and those fully dependent on the government will do fine. The middle class will die a slow death along with our liberty if the Federal government continues to spend and grow in such a manner.
No bill has been passed yet, but in reality the health debate is over. Reid will agree to almost anything to get a bill passed. Any provision the left doesn’t like can, and will be, amended later.
