Quotes From Hugo Chavez’s Copenhagen Speech (Video)

COPENHAGEN (YBH.ME) – Below are some of the more interesting quotes from Hugo Chavez’s 20 minute speech at the U.N. Climate Change conference in Copenhagen today.

Chavez calls for the end of Capitilism.

Chavez calls for the end of Capitalism.

Mr. Chavez was warmly received and some of the quotes below received enthusiastic applause from the audience in the hall:

“If the climate was a bank [the west] would have already saved it.”

“The destructive model of Capitalism is eradicating life”

I don’t think Obama is here yet. He got the Nobel Peace Prize almost the same day as he sent 30,000 soldiers to kill innocent people in Afghanistan.

[Copenhagen is ] not democratic, it is not inclusive, but isn’t that the reality of our world, the world is really and imperial dictatorship…down with imperial dictatorships”

“I don’t think Obama is here yet. He got the Nobel Peace Prize almost the same day as he sent 30,000 soldiers to kill innocent people in Afghanistan.”

“Our revolution seeks to help all people…socialism, the other ghost that is probably wandering around this room, that’s the way to save the planet, capitalism is the road to hell….let’s fight against capitalism and make it obey us.”

Mr. Chavez reportedly received a standing ovation for his last remark.

I have seen what "socialism" ala communism can do to a country. The haves will wind up having it all while throwing the crumbs to the masses. Just enought to keep them quiet. Opposition is destroyed and the country eventually reverted back to dark ages. While the ruling juntas will reap the benefits… NO THANK YOU, MR. CHAVEZ!

Update on Chavez: KAMPALA, Uganda (AP) – Ugandan officials were offended after Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said whether Ugandan dictator Idi Amin was truly as brutal as recorded, " Maybe he was a great nationalist, a patriot." Said Hugo Chavez about Idi Amin. "Amin was brutal. He killed many Ugandans and made many run into exile. There is something wrong with whoever praises Amin." Said Mary Karoro Okurut from Ugandan NR Party about Hugo Chavez. (Hugo Chavez is Americas 1st Fascist , according to many.)
Hugo Chavez attenda the Copenhagen Talks. The National Socialist state that Carbon dioxide (CO2) is pollution. CO2 is needed for human activity , therefore, human beings can be considered pollution. In the debate on Climate , it appears that Violent Dictators, Fascists , or Terrorists (Hugo Chavez , Sudan leaders (convicted of genocide),etc.) are using the Global Warming 'Big Lie' debate to secure billions in funding for themselves and continue their own violent tyrannical policies.

If this was true, then the people you are defending are guilty of the same. Capitalism is very wrong. It is legal murder, with a purchase of alibi. I live in capitalism. Death is just as nasty. And much slower.

It's sad that anyone in the world today, with any knowledge of history can have these kinds of views. The only reason any human being would spout this kind of obserdity is to continue to opress and control their own people. Too bad America is heading down this same road under King Obama.

Im often shocked at the amount of recognition Huge Chavez gets, whilst i do believe that certain elements opf socialism work ie Universal health care and government assitance in the form of welfare, this kind of unfettered socialist propoganda put forth by chavez is really quite dangerious.

Although a number of left wing twerps in thje West would love nothing more then to go over and share a beer with there Anti Bush, Anti Capitalist, Anti Western hero, one should remember the damage and division this man has caused in his home country.

Futhermore probally the biggest failure of these talks are the contempt the developing world has for the Developed. In a time when we are generiously offering large amount of money in the form of Aid and assistance the only thanks we get is a thunderious applaus for a man who frankly should be sweeping the streets of a free and proud democratic nation.

Which kind of applause do you want? The North states are rich today thanks to years of exploration from the poor countries and continues to do so through the imperialist international institutions such as WTO and IMF. You all survive and can have your good things and gap clothes, way of life, with cheap labour from developing countries including child labour. The North are so responsible as the developing countries, don't pose here as the civilised. No one wants aid and you all thing you can save your soul paying thats the kind of moral we get at the north the consumer moral you pay and you can get away with anything, how dangerous is this propaganda.

Chavez in the first one in taking advantage of the capitalism, he constantly makes critics about the “yankees” but he sells them all the petroleum that exists in Venezuela and with it, he is making a lot of money for himself while the population in Venezuela don`t have enough food to eat, they can not say anything on TV or in the radio against Chavez because it is prohibit and you could go to jail just for saying what you think and what it is true. Besides he wants war with Colombia a totally democratic Country. Chavez is “GERILLERO”, SO WHAY YOU THINK IS HE SO WORRY ABOUT THE USA Military bases in Colombia? Because he in one of them and he is protecting many gerrileros in Venezuela. And let me tell you people something, In this moment almost the 70% of the Venezuela`s people don’t want Chavez as a president because he is making poorer that beautiful country, and they realize that he is a monster. Also the best psychiatrists say that he is totally out of his mind and he is a psychopath.

    • #13 by ele on December 21, 2009 - 6:05 am

That is exactly how it is.

I am from Venezuela, and although I can superficially agree with these remarks, it is important to know that this man is one of the most dangerous (and damaging) in the world.

It is now surprise that he would get applauses and standing ovations for his hard criticisms of capitalism, the West, I even would say something similar, and a lot of probably agree with him and other developing nations regarding the Accord made in Copenhagen. But it is a mistake to take Chavez’s words as truthful or enlightening.

The last decade, the prices of venezuelan oil for purchasing countries have been absolutely insane, like DIANA said, the huge amount of money being received by Venezuela through oil exchange is being mostly used by the government (Chavez and his team of lunatics) for futile purposes.

One hundred people a week are murdered in Venezuela.

Im not sure where people get their information about venezuela and hugo chavez, I am an englishman in venezuela right now visiting my venezuelan wife's family for the third time in two years. Not once have i seen anyone begging for food and i have travelled from merida in the north to caracas. Sure there is poor people here who dont have much at all but i have seem more poverty in india and indonesia. The county and people here are warm and friendly and just yesterday while we travelled to caracas on the autopista a group of motocycle demonstrators were blocking the road by taking up all the lanes and slowing the traffic to an almost standstill, Did the goverment or police stop this..NO. People here CAN protest and do, Yes Chavez has his opponents and haters but he also has the love of a lot of the poor as he is the first leader in the country's history to GIVE homes to the poor and move them from the many barrios. The man will never be liked by all as he stands up for himself and his country against bigger more powerful countries. The social programmes he has started are improving the lives of many venezuelans, his nationalization of the petrol is stopping countries raping his land of its black gold and giving more to the venezuelan people than ever before. Countries that had this oil before are obviously angry and will do anything to discredit chavez but what would YOU do if for years other countries and individuals got rich on this oil? Now i cant say i know everything about venezuela and chavez, I can only speak of what i see with MY OWN EYES and yes the country still has it's problems but for the first time in a long time things are being addresses by it's leadership including a rail network across the country to ease traffic and in turn less carbon emissions, social programs are feeding and housing those less fortunate than the richer venezuelans that make up the majority of chavez's opposition. Please please dont just believe everything you read about this country and its leader, most of what's written is by people with an agenda to discredit or they have sometime to lose.

As for chavez comments on people like idi amin and others i cant agree with him but on other comments he makes he speaks what others are thinking and too afraid to say, for this he should be applauded,

Just visit this country yourselves and make your mind up when you have seen for yourself.

So you agree with his words "let’s fight against capitalism and make it obey us."? ProudAmerican

      • #16 by Carpediem on December 19, 2009 - 12:19 pm

        Wel…….Make it obey us……it sounds a bit odd…
To Mr.'guest'…..I think Sharon is right on this. Saying that capitalism should be obeying the democratic society is rouge and nonsense, although it is right that it is our destiny to fight against capitalism to promote peace all over the world

Hi, I'd like to suggest you to pay a visit to La Morgue de Bello Monte so you can verify with your own eyes the daily killings, yes 100 per week, just in Caracas, that's freedom. Chavez goes to Copenhagen to a Global Warming summit, and he talks about politics, he is off the point, criticized US, EU but not a word about China. Venezuela has an oil based economy so how Chavez can tell the industrialized countries off, he is the oil dealer. With the oil revenue he should have done much more to develop a diversified economy, today after over 10 year that Chavez has been in power, Venezuela doesn't produce hardly anything but oil, and that is a decisive contribution to global warming

CAPITALISM No one mentions that since China has adopted capitalism their living standards have been improving, Russia now has well stocked shelves in their food stores, living standards and economic growth are surging in the developing world where capitalism are working. As for America stealing from the "south", our living standards and wealth are due the hard working and self-reliant citizens. We pay the market price for oil. We have less vacation time than Europe. An American executive told a German that he envied the quality of work done by German workers, the German said he envied the quantity of work done by Americans. Some of the earlest settlers tried a communist type system but found quickly that it didn't work. British and Hessian troops during the Revolutionary War marveled at the living standards of Americans – we wern't stealing oil at that time.
    Share the wealth!

All of you that speak of this dictator (Hugo) are certainly waiting for handouts. Socialism/marxist or what ever you want to call this system that makes you think is better then having your own freedom and liberty must wake up and free yourself from dictorship type governments. Yes you might think the rich get rich, but alot of these people came here from countries such as Chavez's and have made a great living. Not because they stole or took adventage of others but because they had the drive, the desire, the enthusiasm, and the wanting to make life better for their children. For all of those that say capitalism is bad, I say shut up. Because of capitalism the world has brought most of you out of poverty and raised your living standards. Stop thinking that you deserve the same thing that your hard working neighbors has, you have the freedom to become and do anything you want. If Socialism was so grand…those countries with that type of governments …well…read your history and you will know that it does't work. And if anyone who lives in the US.. your always welcome to move to those kind of countries.

Its easy to steal the wealth of South America (and wherever else you can find it), and than give some little charity back to secure your position.

Chavez was right on. Every generation needs a new revolution, said US president Thomas Jefferson. The one against greedy corporate capitalism is long overdue.

First, I don't understand why you are posting these kind of words inside a website built for 'talks', not any unreasonable swearings….!!!!
As President Barack Obama said in his speech while receiving the Nobel Prize, wars do act as an efficient way to promote peace among people, as negotiations cannot act as the 'key' solution to everything.
If there weren't any wars against Germany, it would have been possible that Germany is now the strongest country, altering all the other countries into a communist country…!!!!!!
As the Nobel Committee spoke out, the Nobel Peace Prize is given to President Barack Obama in hopes of encouraging him to continue promoting peace around the world. What he has done until now, in my opinion, will be the cornerstone of the so-called 'peace' that President Obama is trying to bring about. Chavez saying that President Barack Obama is promoting communism..?? Nonsense….Really……

  17. #27 by guest on December 19, 2009 - 1:56 pm

I agree there is no need for people on this debate to use swearing, it just shows a lack of interlect and an ability to choose words, Having said that everyone is entitled to their opinion no matter what words they choose to use it would just be nicer if they elaborated on their comments. I dream of a day where humans respect that others have differing opinions and what works in one country or continent does not automatically mean it will work elsewhere.

I mentioned before im an englishman in venezuela, I am sad that my country was once an empire that raped the world of it's natural resources and killed many people across the globe. The english once thought themselves as the world police and eventually that all ended, I play no other countries try to police the world and push their ideology onto others. I sometime wish i was more educated on world history as i wish others were also. I think people should fully know where they have been to know where they are going.

I was one of the many english that welcomed Barak Obama winning the US presidency, for too long america was seen around the world as a bully and a country that interfered in others, I find americans to be fantastic people, friendly, entertaining and driven, In all countries we get wackos who think unlike the majority and i believe a lot of americans care about the world as a whole.

On the flip side some americans think they are the chosen ones and forget they are a multi-racial society that has been founded on diversity.

With just a handful of exceptions, the world today, is a place where "ignorance" reins. Those above comments criticizing Chavez and the likes and "glamorizing" the west and capitalism, have no knowledge of the truth and what the enemy is doing to it. 10- 20 years down the road, we will see a handful of characters, totally dominating the political and financial arena in the world. Wars will continue to eliminate the "undesirables" and enslave those who remain. What we have here, is the coming of the anti-christ and the beginning of Jacob's troubles. The next few years, those alive will envy the dead and the chaos will shortly ensued. May God have mercy on ALL of us.
