LOS ANGELES (YBH) – The phrase “settled science” can no longer be credibly applied to climate change research purporting to prove man-made global warming, but tell that to the BBC, which continues to downplay skeptics and carry on reporting the party line. Funny thing is, the pension fund for the media organization is moderately to heavily invested in what could be termed green industry.
A few years back it may have looked like a chance to get in on the ground floor of an about-to-boom industry. That’s the kind of thing poobahs in charge of investing pension fund money are tasked to look for. But should the news arms of these mega companies also be touting the cause, mindful of how it benefits their members?
According to the United Kingdom’s Express paper, the corporation which runs the BBC is in fact under investigation for conflict of interest in its investment dealings. Peter Dunscombe is Head of Pensions Investment for the BBC and also happens to run the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change, which has more than 50 members across Europe. No other media organization is a member of the group.
BBC viewers and listeners have long complained about one-sided coverage of the issue in the news departments of the venerable and once-trusted company.
