James O’Keefe Arrested by Feds; Famous for Undercover ACORN Story

LOS ANGELES (YBH.ME) – Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu’s New Orleans office was visited by four men pretending to be telephone repairmen; the men were later arrested by U.S.Marshals for, according to the affidavit, “entering Federal property under false pretenses.”  James O’Keefe, the filmmaker who used undercover videos to take down ACORN, was among those arrested.   The Feds also arrested  Joseph Basel, Robert Flanagan and Stan Dai, all 24.

The men were allegedly dressed in workmen’s outfits, and asked for access to the Senator’s main phone lines.  Landrieu came to much prominence during the health care debate early last fall, throwing her moderate Democrat vote behind the President’s plan in exchange for what some saw as a sweetheart deal for her home state.

If convicted, the men face up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine.  O’Keefe is already involved in a considerable civil suit brought by ACORN.  His attorney, Michael Madigan, said in a statement to the website Politico : “I don’t know the facts yet of what exactly happened, but at heart James O’Keefe is a good kid.”  Madigan is a longtime Republican-affiliated attorney, who, among other tasks,  helped run former Tennessee Republican Senator Fred Thompson’s investigation of the Clinton administration.

I wonder what they were looking for. Could they have even used whatever they got if they had not been caught?
