NEW YORK (YBH.ME) – Libyan leader Moammar Qadhafi praised President Barack Obama today in a rambling 90 plus minute speech before a full assembly of the United Nations. Qadhafi called Obama “a glimpse in the darkness after four or eight years,” and said that, “We are content and happy if Obama can stay forever as president of the United States.”
The Libyan President has long been a thorn in the side of US policy makers, but had seemed to calm his rhetoric and anti-American actions during most of George W. Bush’s tenure.

Qadhafi also had choice words for the United Nations Security Council referring to it as a “terror council” and likened the council to Al Qaeda. Qadhafi also called for an end of veto power for the permanent members on the Security Council.
The U.N. General Assembly meeting ends on September 30th.
Editors Note: Many other news outlets refer to the Libyan President as “Gadhafi” or “Gaddafi.” We use the spelling found in the CIA’s World Factbook. All three spellings are considered correct in English.
