Mrs. California and Me

Let me weigh in on the Mrs. California debate, from yesterday’s Catholic Online.

Free Speech for Me but not for Thee? Miss California defends true marriage

“As the verbal assault against Carrie Prejean has continued, her integrity and character have continued to shine. Miss California is a Christian. She is a student at San Diego Christian College, an evangelical Protestant school. The College is very proud of her, covering her appearance and 1st runner up victory on their website. They should be proud. She answered with the kind of integrity and honestly which speaks of what Pope Benedict XVI has called a “moral coherence”. She was unafraid of defending true marriage in the face of an obviously loaded question from a self avowed homosexual activist with an agenda beyond the beauty contest, knowing that it may cost her a victory.

Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr. told NBC’s “Today,” that Miss USA contestants need to be “politically savvy.” Questioned about the Christian faith of Carrie Prejean he showed how little tolerance he has for people with differing worldviews saying he did not want her “talking about Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, because that’s offensive.”

As the verbal assault against Carrie has continued, her integrity and character have continued to shine. During that MSNBC interview she was asked how she would respond to the continuing invective from her adversary and said “I can only say that I will be praying for him… I believe marriage should be between a man and a woman. And he asked me my opinion, and I gave it to him.”

One can draw many conclusions based on this little example of where the current American culture has found itself. It appears to me that a double standard has been established. When the Pledge of Allegiance of the United States proclaims “One Nation, Under God” and the status quo seems to be embracing Mr. Lavandeira’s view that a person who publicly acknowledges Jesus Christ and attests to having faith is somehow “offensive”, something is amiss. A coin cannot be both heads and tails, you either have it one way or the other. America as become a very different place from the times of our founding fathers, in fact, it has become a very different country from the time of my own father! I wish I could say that was a good thing. Don’t take my word for it either, look outside your window, turn on the news, and read the paper. Opinions will differ on the current state of affairs of the United States, but one thing is for sure, history will have the last word.

I’ll leave you with this:

“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.” – Abraham Lincoln

I think she is brave and I am very proud that she STANDS UP FOR WHAT SHE BELIEVES IN. The gay man should be beaten…not because he's gay, who the hell cares, but for giving her flack because she answered honestly and without shame. Every person should be able to voice how they feel. That is OUR RIGHT UNDER THE 1ST AMENDMENT!

What a wonderful christian woman who poses for topless photos and then thinks it's okay to say gay marriage is wrong because of what the bible says, the bible also says that we shall not covet thy neighbors wife, but straight men ruin the sanction of traditional marriage all the time, and trust.

Why is it that all fat, ugly women go after every possible little issue with attractive women. You are going to blame them for eating right, working out, and trying to be beautiful? Beatiful women are not to blame for the laziness of the over-weight people.

No one is perfect, but that does not change the truth.

The truth would be the truth if no one believed it.

"One thing the media does not report on is God’s patience, a patience so great that He even allows evil to occur so that more people may come to repentance and conversion of heart. It fails to report that in the cross of Jesus Christ lays all the pain, betrayal, hurt and evil of all of human history, past, present and even future. It is His cross that reveals to us that no situation is without hope and that no darkness, no matter how great it may seem, can consume us."

To Jay, I never commented on the womans weight, or beauty, Two issues that have nothing to do with the issue I commented on. You assume too much. I said nothing of her beauty or lack of, or eating habbits. I myself am not fat, or ugly, I work out, I dont' have issues of beautiful women I am one myself, though I do have a problem with the comments Mrs California spoke of on Marriage. Being I am a married woman I take my vows to heart, and I hold marriage sacred because I want to, my husband does the same, you do not have to bring god into it when you have married people who take the vow in church who do not hold the vow sacred and cheat on thier spouses, wether you married the same sex or not, it does not matter.
