Last week, I wrote an editorial entitled “Hoaxenhagen” about how Climategate has delegitimized the upcoming Copenhagen climate change summit. Climategate has been ignored by many politicians, including the White House and what conservatives derisively call the “mainstream media.” It is now full speed ahead to Copenhagen. Climategate. What Climategate?

Leaving aside the legality of how the East Anglia emails were brought to light, no one has denied that the emails are real. Phil Jones, the controversial researcher at the center of the global warming hoax, has stepped down from his influential post. Yes, it is a hoax. Clean water is an issue I’ll fight for, but we can no more control the climate then we can choose who we fall in love with. Nature has its own way. On top of that most of the “proof” of global warming is in doctored studies and outright lies. Al Gore comes to mind.
Cleverly, the left has changed the debate from “global warming” to “climate change.” They realized that global warming is unprovable and climate change happens daily. Heck, some days it rains, some it doesn’t; climate change occurs on a daily basis. The bottom line is the left is so close to pulling off a coup, they don’t want to jeopardize the whole thing by actually having to prove the case of global warming.
Unemployment is now at 10% in the United States, double the average of the Bush years, and the President is pursuing legislation that will literally break the U.S. bank. Mr. Obama pledged to fundamentally “change the United States of America” if elected. So far he is delivering on that promise. Socialized medicine, climate treaties that make the U.S. a servant of the United Nations, and the coming tax storm will all alter the landscape of American life in ways that we won’t really understand until it is too late.
I try and like the President. I really do, but whenever he does something decent he then follows up with a hard left move. Copenhagen is a sham. Shame on the citizens of this country (myself included) for not speaking up sooner about the left’s noxious and dishonest views on the climate.
If President Obama sells out this country in Copenhagen, as expected with his revised travel plans (the President will now be in Denmark during the negotiation phase of the summit), look for his poll numbers to shrink even further. I’m not sure the President cares anymore.
We are entering a crucial stage in human affairs. Over six billion populate this planet. The battle to preserve liberty has begun. Individual rights will suffer as the world enters a collectivist phase under the guise of climate change and other cause celebres of the left. The elite politicians and bureaucrats will rule and live the high life, while entrepreneurs and common folk in the private sector will become wards of the all powerful state.
Look at my state of California. Unemployment is at record levels, yet many state workers take home lifetime pensions worth over $100,000 a year. One fellow receives a $500k per year pension from the state for the rest of his life. Retire at 55 and die at 85, and you’ve got a $3 million pay day from the state for doing very little. The private sector can’t match that. Not surprisingly, state workers guard these benefits with an iron fist.
Look for bureaucrats world wide to receive similar benefits for “managing” the climate and our lives in the future. The rest of us: I guess we can eat cake.
