This video is perhaps one of the best pieces of political satire I’ve seen in a long time.  On March 15th, President Obama mistakenly told a crowd in Ohio that employers would save on average “3000% per employee” if his health care bill makes it through Congress.  Someone ran the numbers as to what that might mean for the American economy.  The results are below:

My favorite part is how the crowd in the background doesn’t even flinch.  To this handpicked audience of hyper-partisans, he truly is the “Magic Man”

A reduction "by" is not the same as a reduction "of." A reduction "by" means you divide (by), ie if an employer pays $10,000, a 3000% reduction is $10,000/ 3000% = $333. A reduction "of" would be $10,000 multiplied by 3000% giving you the crazy numbers, and that wouldn’t be a reduction! It would have been simpler if he had said employers may be paying up to 3% "of" their current cost. But then what sounds more profound, 3 or 3000? After-all it is politics.

Obama: "employers would save on average 3000% per employee”
Obama is mathematically and functionally illiterate. The most that employers can possibly save is 100%, in which case they pay zero $, which of course is ridiculous enough.
But then we know Obama's mental deficiency with numbers, as when he counted 57 states in the union.
