Yes, the Battle Hymn of the Republic is notoriously a religious song.
What about this popular Sunday school song;

"Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world.

Red and yellow, black and white,
They are precious in his sight.

Jesus loves the little children of the world"

I don't even know what to make of this video. It is the most disturbing thing that I have seen on this matter to date. But I thank you for posting it.

What is troublesome is that President Obama takes God's place in the song. Great song, about God doing what God does to help the down-troden and save the lost. Substitute "Barak Hussein Obama" and its blasphamy.

"Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord:
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword:
His truth is marching on."

It doesn't matter if you're Jewish, Christian, Islamic or Athesit, elevating the president to God's position ought to get you riled up. I'm not making a political statement based on rebpublican or Democratic philosophy. I'm talking about substituting the president for God! That is a religious statement!

As a Christian I'm offended. Someone took the tune from a worship song and made substituted a man as the object of that worship. THAT is offensive.

My irritation is not so much that we appreciate or honor our president. I was pleased that we did the same during the Bush administration. Uphold the office.

I'm most irritated with using "Battle Hymn of the Republic" which is a clearly religious song written before the Civil War, speaking of the "coming of the Lord". This is clearly the tenor of the Obama song…well and good to think highly about our president. He is attempting to do good America according to his liberal ideals. People who share his views, will sing right along.

I can't believe that the schools would even allow such things to happen on their school grounds when many took out the pladge of legion, and that was more inportant than worshipping. I know I woudln't want my children to go to a school where they practiclely brain wash them to think that he has done something beyond what other Presidents have done. I woudl be all over the school and take them out of it.

Michael, while your retort is pretty creepy, I love the cardboard cut out, I must put forth that a private "Jesus Camp" is much different than a public school Obama worship fest.

I'd personally be angered by both. Who films these things anyway? Makes you wonder what took place before the availability of cheap videotape.
