Nancy Pelosi’s International Finance Tax

NEW YORK (YBH.ME) – Democrats in the House of Representatives have been quietly calling for a tax on all financial transactions such as stock and bond trades since the financial meltdown gripped Wall Street, and therefore the nation last year.

Noting that such a tax in the U.S. alone would harm U.S. exchanges and jobs, today House Speaker Nancy Pelosi clarified her intentions and said “It would have to be an international rule, not just a U.S. rule. We couldn’t do it alone, we’d have to do it as an international initiative.”

In order to tap into “main street” anger at Wall Street bankers, the tax would most likely be pitched as a “sin” tax akin to taxing tobacco or alcohol. Outside of raising revenue it is not clear why the tax would be imposed or what behavior the government would seek to curb.

The tax if implemented could raise $150 billion dollars a year in the U.S. and could be used to “create jobs.”

    Nancy Pelosi is insane. She is working to destroy our great country by driving business elsewhere while she attempts to fund a socialst agenda. The only good news here is that she is building the GOP's platform for a successful midterm election in 2010.
