(YBH) – The AP leads this morning with the following quote in regards to General Stanley McChrystal:

The commanding general’s disrespectful remarks about President Barack Obama and his team are the latest setback for a nine-year war rocked by rising casualties.

The AP is referring to Mr. McChrystal’s comments in Rolling Stone.  The problem is, there is no quote in the Rolling Stone article directly attributed to Stanley McChrystal about the President.  The closest thing to a quote is when General McChyrstal references the fact that he thought the President was intimidated by military leaders during his first encounter with them early in his presidency.

McChrystal out in Afghanistan."

Over at The Huffington Post the headline for two days has been “READ THE EXPLOSIVE COMMENTS FROM ROLLING STONE“.  Upon reading the article, it is clear nothing in it can be construed as “explosive.”  Out-of-line?  Perhaps, but in no way beyond the pale.

The President summoned General McChrystal to Washington, D.C. immediately to discuss the Rolling Stone article.  The pair met this morning.  Afterward, flanked by Joe Biden and General David Petraeus, the President spoke publicly about the affair and fired General McChrystal.  The President said his decision was not “out of any sense of personal insult,” but the best choice for national security.

General Stanley McChrystal has been replaced by General David Petraeus as the U.S. leader in Afghanistan.  The Taliban applauded the Presidents decision, according to Fox News, calling it the “beginning of the end for the U.S. politically in Afghanistan.”  The Karzai government, while accepting of Mr. Obama’s decision, had earlier warned against it.

You know there's a problem with a choice when the enemy applauds it. Yet another moronic move by a man who has no business being a commander in chief.

Its a sad thing when telling the truth gets you fired.Obama couldnt get Storming Norman to run things, and yes I know hes retired, but I dont think he would work for him.Real military commanders who know their business have problems with those who don't have a clue. Its not long before this white house is in shambles. The whole world is becomming aware of the progressing problems here, its something new every day.

First time I’ve seen this glaring problem recognised! Nowhere have I seen what he actually said, only vague quotes, and in the light of those, it seemed like a fragile, thin-skinned reaction to sack the guy!
