WASHINGTON, D.C. (YBH.ME) – On a two day trip to Moscow seeking support for sanctions on Iran, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton came away with no Russian support for imminent Iranian sanctions, but purportedly a substantial change in Russian-American relations.

According to Fox News, the two nations are seriously negotiating to create a weapons inspection program that would permit Russian military officers access to American nuclear sites to count missiles and warheads. The expiration of 1991’s START (Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty) in December has the Obama Administration anxious to cement a workable nuclear treaty.

In remarks posted on the State Department’s website, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, speaking at a Moscow Town Hall, stated, “I will be the first to tell you that we have people in our government, and you have people in your government, who are still living in the past. They do not believe that the United States and Russia can cooperate to this extent. They do not trust each other. And we have to prove them wrong. That is our goal.”

She continued that she would like to see “a joint plan on missile defense, that we will have [in place] sensors and radars and whatever other technology is needed in a way to protect what we hold dear, which is our homelands.”

As for Secretary Clinton’s mission to Moscow, Russia’s former President Vladimir Putin, widely believed to be very much still controlling his nation, has stated “There is no need to frighten the Iranians. We need to look for a compromise. If a compromise is not found, and the discussions end in a fiasco, then we will see.”
