There is a reason the press and liberals have gone into hyper-hysteria over Whole Foods CEO John Mackey’s use of the word fascism to describe ObamaCare.
It is simple. He is right and the truth hurts.
When looking over the reactions to his statement on NPR last week that “Technically speaking, [ObamaCare is] more like fascism. Socialism is where the government owns the means of production. In fascism, the government doesn’t own the means of production, but they do control it — and that’s what’s happening with our health care programs and these reforms.”
Nothing in what Mr. Mackey said is beyond dispute. Even liberals who really want single payer government run health care must admit that ObamaCare dictates that the government control the health care business in this country. What they don’t like is that someone had the nerve to say it.
Now Mr. Mackey has backed down from his comments. Big media has been all over Mr. Mackey. He has been intimidated into changing his words. So big business, quietly at the behest of government, intimidates a businessman for speaking his mind? Is that not a hint of fascism?
Golfer Phil Mickelson was also intimidated by the media, quietly at the behest of government, to walk back his complaints about having to pay a tax rate of up to 63% under Obama II.
We use the phrase “quietly at the behest of government” because it is fitting in our view. Big Media is in lockstep with the Obama regime on almost everything. The Obama administration doesn’t command the media to attack people like Phil Micekelson for saying things that don’t further the glory of the state (a key component of fascism), because it doesn’t have to. The media already does Mr. Obama’s bidding simply because they agree with him.
Well, thanks to John Mackey millions of people will now learn about fascism. The bell cannot be un-rung and the label will stick to Barack Obama like glue.
