LAS VEGAS (YBH.ME) – It opens tv shows, ends up in music videos, and welcomes gamblers. The iconic “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign also became a target of frustration over the holidays.

Vegas Sign Hit With Paint From Protestor
Just before Christmas, Las Vegas police arrested 69-year-old Joseph Peter Pepitone, caught on video by a Fox news crew as he threw paint on Sin City’s sign welcoming visitors to the Strip.
Barefoot and wearing only pants, Pepitone threw red paint at the sign, nailing the first “u” in “fabulous”. The crew was covering a different story about graffiti when they happened upon the miscreant.
At the time, Peppitone mentioned a desire to protest the state of health care in America. Recently, Peppitone went on record via email stating he was “not in the right state of mind due to circumstances beyond my control” and hallucinating due to medication.
He still stands to be charged with misdemeanor property damage.
